Logistics & Statistics: Labor Force

The availability of a well-trained, dependable labor force has been a major factor in the success of the High Point business community.

High Point's central location within North Carolina's Piedmont Triad region coupled with an excellent highway system and regionwide PART bus service makes it possible for workers to commute throughout the region with relative ease.

The North Carolina Employment Security Commission (NCESC) is the largest referral of qualified labor. The NCESC has local, regional and national database access to professionals, clerical workers, skilled artisans and technicians, laborers, and graduates seeking a career. The NCESC offers job placement and referral services in addition to professional interviews based on the specific requirements listed by an employer.

The Greensboro / High Point / Guilford Workforce Development Board (336-373-8041) and Guilford Technical Community College work hand-in-hand with the High Point EDC on company training issues.

North Carolina is a "right to work" state, affirming the right of every American to work for a living without being compelled to belong to a union. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that North Carolina has the fewest unionized workers of any state, 2.7%.
